Phi Theta Kappa students were formally inducted Saturday night, May 15th into the Napa Valley College chapter. The president of the college, Armond Phillips, was on hand to welcome and congratulate the students and their families. Outgoing professor and Phi Theta Kappa advisor, Walt Unti, encouraged students to pursue their dreams no matter what. Student president of Phi Theta Kappa and student trustee Rob Holst formally handed over the reigns to the new chapter president, Erica Prado and her new board.

Special thanks to Gina Stofan, Susan Brinson, Jennifer, Eve-Anne Wilkes and all the Phi Theta Kappa students for making the night possible.

Attaining Peace one Piece at a Time...

Beta Beta Sigma continued to campaign for peace by participating in the Peace 4 Piece project. We set up two tables (one in front of the 1000 bldg., the other by the quad) and lay down cloths which students and faculty members could freely express their personal symbols for peace. Each participant had a unique drawing to share (see the pictures below), implying that our richly diverse college body share many good things in common, in this case the desire to win this virtue, which we see so scarcely in many parts of the world today.

2009 NAPA VALLEY AIDS WALK

1.1 million people and counting currently suffer the epidemic AIDS across our country in the present, and battling this health issue remains a challenge for the concerned society. Aware of such alarming news, Beta Beta Sigma just couldn’t help but jump in and show our support. We took our best walking shoes out of the rack and marched at the 2009 Napa Valley Aids Walk. We began our walk early morning and marched for miles along the beautiful streets of Yountville without stopping, our heads held high in our humane goal of spreading awareness regarding AIDS. At the end of the day, our participation contributed to the over-all participation size of Napa Valley College and helped garner a trophy and recognition for the “Best School Team”.
